hello! this is an invitation to the 2nd edition of a casual film series, co-hosted this thursday with G. we will be screening Pather Panchali (1955), dir. Satyajit Ray.

Satyajit Ray is known as the movie director that put South Asian cinema on the map. Pather Panchali ("Song of the Little Road") was his first movie, adapted from a novel of the same name. it was recognized at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival with the Best Human Document award. also, its soundtrack was composed by legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar!



the movie depicts the struggles and small delights of daily life under rural poverty. all of my friends who have watched it say, "it's soooooo sad". please prepare yourself accordingly if you decide to come.

swing by starting at 8pm, the movie will begin at 8:30pm, runtime is 125 minutes. some drinks and snacks will be available but more are always welcome.
